About Rebecca
Responsible, Respectful, Ready
I'm an educator, researcher, and entrepreneur. I've worked in higher education, tech, public health and safety, restorative and criminal justice, and churches. My education at the University of Kansas and my work with local organizations--including colleges, Offender/Victim Ministries, the Harvey County Health Department, and the Harvey County Courts--have prepared me to serve as City Commissioner.
I've lived all over the world, and I've chosen to make Newton my home. If you see me or my family around town--strolling with our elderly dog or our new puppy along Sand Creek, enjoying an iced tea on the patio of our favorite restaurants, browsing for inspiration at downtown stores, walking to church on Sundays, or just lounging on our porch swing at our historic East Newton home--stop and say hi. Tell me what you love about our town, your hopes for our community, and your concerns. I'm here to listen and to help make Newton a town where generations will want to come home to.
