Responsibility
We have a duty to manage our resources--money, time, water, and all the other gifts our community has--prudently. How we use our resources is a statement of who we are. The Newton city budget should reflect our values and our priorities.
Readiness
The challenges we face now and in the future require preparation, data-driven decision-making, and research-based solutions. Newton can be a model of innovation in addressing 21st century problems--if we think about them now.
Respect
Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity by their local government. Even when we disagree, city government is a place where respect for others is expected and modeled. Newton deserves city commissioners who can focus on problem-solving, not ones distracted by their personal prejudices.
Results
If you've been a student (or a child) of mine, you've heard "Results, not excuses." Newton residents deserve solutions to our problems, not excuses why they can't be solved. A good future for our town requires us to identify and work toward our goals, not insist that they can't be achieved.
